A thoughtfully paced literary journey through the landscapes that shaped an American poet
Robert Frost did not simply live in Vermont—he listened to it. In stone walls and orchard rows, in village greens and deep woods, he found both the stillness and the tension that fueled his poetry. This carefully curated journey follows Frost’s Vermont years not as a checklist of sites, but as a lived experience—unhurried, reflective, and rooted in place.
Designed for travelers who value meaning over mileage, Robert Frost’s: A Journey by Heart blends gentle walking, scenic drives, intimate conversations, and warm New England hospitality. Along the way, we trace Frost’s footsteps through forest trails, historic inns, college greens, and working farms—allowing the landscape itself to speak, just as it once spoke to him.
This itinerary is offered on select dates and is fully customizable. Departures may be arranged from your home region, or guests may arrive by air and join the group with private motorcoach transportation provided throughout the journey.

CHAPTER 1 — OPENING THE GATE
“The afternoon knows what the morning never suspected.”
Our journey begins as we depart for New England, traveling north by private motorcoach through changing landscapes that slowly trade highways for hills and open sky. As the air cools and the Green Mountains rise, the pace of life begins to soften.
By late afternoon, we arrive in Manchester, Vermont, where we check in to our welcoming country-style hotel—an inviting introduction to Frost’s Vermont. This evening, we gather for a Welcome Dinner, meeting fellow travelers and setting the tone for the days ahead: reflective, relaxed, and rich with shared discovery.

CHAPTER 2 — THROUGH THE WOODS
“Whose woods these are I think I know…”
After breakfast, we venture into Frost’s country near Ripton, walking the gentle Robert Frost Interpretive Trail, where his verses appear quietly among birch trees, moss, and running water. The walk is contemplative rather than strenuous—an invitation to slow down and notice.
An optional exterior stop at Homer Noble Farm, with views toward Bread Loaf when accessible, offers additional context to Frost’s Vermont years.
Midday brings us to Champlain Orchards, where a farm-fresh lunch is followed by cider tasting and free time to stroll the orchards or enjoy the harvest landscape.
In the late afternoon, we continue east to the historic Norwich Inn, our home for the next two nights. Dinner is included this evening, followed by an intimate reading of Frost’s poetry, shared aloud in a setting that feels entirely of his world.

Note: Embracing its historic charm, the Norwich Inn offers a variety of unique rooms. The Walker House includes first-floor rooms with elevator access to the second floor; select rooms in the Main Inn are located on the second floor.

CHAPTER 3 — WALLS THAT SPEAK
“Something there is that doesn’t love a wall.”
Today we explore White River Junction, where railroads, rivers, and industry shaped Vermont’s modern story. At the historic Hotel Coolidge, local historian David Briggs hosts a private talk and luncheon, bringing to life the monumental 1950 mural by Peter Michael Gish—a visual narrative of labor, endurance, and postwar America that mirrors many of Frost’s themes.
Crossing the Connecticut River, we arrive at Dartmouth College, where Frost once lectured. Time on the green allows space to reflect on the relationship between intellect, art, and the natural world.
This evening is yours to enjoy at leisure, with dinner on your own and a quiet return to the Norwich Inn.

CHAPTER 4 — PROMISES TO KEEP
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep…”
This morning we follow Frost’s later life to Bennington, Vermont. Our first stop is the Robert Frost Stone House Museum in South Shaftsbury, where some of his most enduring lines were written.
Enjoy free time and lunch on your own in downtown Bennington, followed by a visit to the Old First Church and Frost’s gravesite beneath the great elm. An ascent of the Bennington Battle Monument rewards us with sweeping valley views—an ideal vantage point to reflect on place, poetry, and perspective.
Late afternoon brings us to The Hotel Vervana, a beautifully restored mid-century modern retreat. We gather this evening for a Farewell Dinner, celebrating the journey and the words that have quietly accompanied us along the way.
(B, D)
Note: The Hotel Vervana does not offer elevator access. First-floor rooms are requested whenever possible.
CHAPTER 5 — TURNING HOMEWARD
Morning light settles gently over Bennington as we enjoy coffee and a final Vermont breakfast. With unhurried goodbyes, we begin our journey home, carrying with us orchard scents, woodland hush, and Frost’s words—lines that linger long after the road straightens and everyday life resumes.
Estimated arrival times will be provided based on your customized departure plan.
